On most students' 'To-Do' list after enrolment and starting a semester is to secure part-time employment to help out with living expenses. Mostly students get employed on a casual basis. But there may be a few students who become depressed when their efforts are not paid off or they are not able to find employment. The fact is deppression just blocks our energies and affects our studies as well.
You may find it boring or waste of time but honestly try to do some volunteer work. You may be able to secure places for voluntary work on the councils website or you may ask for it in a church . Getting involved in your community brings a great sense of satisfaction and you also begin to widen your network of friends, understand how work opportunities arise and what documentation you need to provide.
Your voluntary work could also be an experience you may write about on your resume which employers value a lot. Finding an hour or two in a week, a fortnight or maybe a month to help people in nursing homes, migrants having language difficulties, or people with disabilities.
These individuals are important part of society and help us learn things which we take for granted. You could be recoganised for your voluntary work and rewarded in more ways than one can imagine.
Hot tip : The work related voluntary work website is goodcompany.com where you can learn and showcase your skills you have or would like to develop. The website will provide you with an opportunity of your choice of voluntary work.
